Solo might be the last Star Wars Story spin-off for a while, according to reports this week.
The film’s receipts were also down significantly on the $155m in domestic business Rogue One raked in over the first three days. Rogue One also suffered production issues calling for widespread reshoots, but the end results were largely considered to be superior to Solo, among the majority of critics.
If future ‘Star Wars Story’ spin-offs are being canned for now, that doesn’t mean force fans will face a barren galaxy from here on in.
After Episode IX brings the third Skywalker trilogy to a close, there’ll be a new trio of of films from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and another separate series from Game of Thrones show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
“These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” a press release said at the time.
