World Cup Opening Ceremony 2018 Live Stream: Watch Robbie Williams kick things off today
The World Cup 2018 is finally here, and the month-long festival of football kicks off this afternoon after a performance from (and we had to double-check this) none other than footie-mad ‘90s pop icon Robbie Williams. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the World Cup opening ceremony live stream for free.
Let’s face it. On paper, the opening game (Russia vs Saudi Arabia) looks like a stinker, pitting the tournament’s two lowest-ranking sides against each other, so it’s up to Stoke’s favourite son to get pulses racing.
The opening ceremony will begin at 3:30pm BST, just half-an-hour before the first match gets underway, which means we’ve probably got enough time for at least two of his big hits. Or do I smell a medley?
Supporting Robbie at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium will be Russian soprano Aida Garifullina and hundreds of dancers, gymnasts and trampolinists. Original Ronaldo will be there, too!
You’ll be able to watch all the action live on ITV 1, or through ITV Hub, if you’re out and about on your mobile, mean it’s free to live stream the World Cup 2018 opening ceremony – provided you’ve got a valid UK TV license, of course.
If you don’t already have the ITV Hub app, here are a few handy links:
ITV’s coverage begins at 2.30pm, so if nothing else, the ceremony will provide a welcome break from whatever happens to be going on in the studio.
Let’s all just hope for a better show than the one we got at the Euro 2016 opening ceremony.
