As expected, we got an extended look at Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at Ubisoft’s own press conference at E3 2018. The publisher showed off an impressive cinematic trailer, before its creative director took to the stage to offer more details about the game.
Odyssey will be set in Ancient Greece during the conflict between Athens and Sparta, and the Peloponnesian war. Ubisoft was keen to emphasise that the game will offer a real RPG experience.
You’ll also be able to choose between two different playable characters, which you’ll then use throughout the entire experience. Whichever protagonist you choose, you’ll wield a legendary Spartan weapon.
This being an Assassin’s Creed game, there’ll naturally be cameos from historical figures. A conversation with Socrates, the Greek philosopher, was shown off in the trailer, which also revealed multiple dialogue options will be availble for the first time in the series when talking to NPCs.

What is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?
It’s the follow-up to Assassin’s Creed Origins, which in itself was a soft reboot for the series after fans had grown tired of annual releases and repetitive mechanics. It was wonderful, and we really hope the same care and attention has been put into Odyssey.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey release date – When is it coming out?
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is due to launch on October 5, 2018, which means we don’t have long to wait before we’ll be exploring Ancient Greece.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey setting – Where does it take place?
Odyssey will take us the sunny confines of Ancient Greece, so you can expect plenty of gladiatorial combat and historical assassinations amongst the sprawling fields and cities. Feudal Japan aside, its a setting we’ve wanted from the series for over a decade now.
We thought that this setting would lead to some fun cameos, and Ubisoft has already revealed that Socrates will be one of the NPCs you can interact with in the game.
