Bethesda Game Studios has announced Fallout 76, a new entry in the beloved post-apocalyptic RPG series. Unveiled in a stylish yet subtle new trailer, it remains unclear whether it will be a fully-fledged adventure or something smaller or more experimental. Either way, colour us excited.
A launch date hasn’t been announced, although a clue can be found in the trailer as the camera pans down past a Pipboy. At the 0:29 mark, you’ll notice “Oct 27” in some clearly visible text.

At Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference we were treated to a brand new trailer for Fallout 76. We also received a couple of new pieces of information about the game, such as its setting (West Virginia), its time period (it’s a prequel), and its size (four times that of Fallout 4).
This is another mystery we’re also unable to solve. Judging from the trailer, Fallout 76 operates on the same technology that powered Fallout 4, so it’ll be capable of some impressive visual feats and some sharp gunplay.
Kotaku’s Jason Schreier has said it may be “an online game of sorts” and that those hoping for a massive solo experience will be disappointed. We’ll be sure to find out more in the coming weeks, that much is for sure.
